Big Eye opens up about his political ambitions Amidst NUP flag uncertainty

Big Eye with National Unity Platform (NUP) president Bobi Wine

Ugandan singer Big Eye, who made headlines earlier this year by announcing his intention to join active politics, is now preparing to run for the Nansana Municipality MP seat in the upcoming general elections.

In a recent phone interview on the Talk and Talk show, Big Eye addressed concerns about his eligibility for the position, confidently stating that he meets the academic requirements. He revealed that he completed his Senior Six and even attended Makerere University, affirming his readiness to serve the people of Nansana.

While many were excited about his political move, Big Eye’s transition from music to politics hasn’t been without its challenges.

One of the key uncertainties is whether he will be assigned the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag, as he is competing for the party’s endorsement alongside other potential candidates. However, Big Eye expressed his unwavering determination to continue pursuing his political dreams regardless of the outcome.

“If the NUP flag is assigned to another member instead of me, that’s fine, but it may slow down my mission,” Big Eye said, making it clear that while he is open to the party’s decision, he remains committed to his cause.

His shift from supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to aligning with the opposition was a bold political move, and now, his supporters eagerly await the decision on who will carry the NUP flag in Nansana.

Big Eye is part of a growing trend of artists transitioning from the entertainment industry to politics, following in the footsteps of NUP leader Bobi Wine, who also made the leap from music to political leadership.

As one of the most prominent figures in the Ugandan music scene, Big Eye’s decision to run for office has generated significant interest.

His supporters, particularly those in Nansana, are watching closely to see how his political journey will unfold. With a clear passion for leadership and change, Big Eye is determined to make his mark in Uganda’s political arena, regardless of the challenges that lie ahead.
