As Ugandan musicians increasingly enter the political scene to make ends meet, boda boda leaders across the country are now focusing on nurturing the riders’ music talents. This initiative aims to diversify their income sources and empower them financially.

Mr Frank Mawejje, the chairperson of the United Boda boda Riders Cooperative Union, announced that the union has partnered with the Uganda Musicians Association to organise a songwriting competition for boda boda riders. This competition will test their abilities in music and reward the most talented individuals.

“The competition is on. Interested riders can visit the festival website, www.Bodabodafestival.com, to register. Finalists will be part of the Boda boda Festival in July this year in Kampala, where they will perform. We will also hold regional festivals,” he said on Friday February 28, 2025.
