This edition did not just bring young corporates but older guys as well who sang their lungs out, danced nonstop, and did not even think about sitting down for more than four hours non-stop.
By 6:30pm last Thursday evening, finding parking around 1420 Bar & Lounge in Bugolobi, was already a hustle. Why? The Strictly Soul event was happening in town and it attracted RnB lovers, party animals, and die-hard music fans to be part of the first edition of the event this year.
This event is not over advertised but popular among a specific crowd who always look forward to it every time.
Strictly Soul is not just a Ugandan thing, it is an international RnB movement that was launched in South Africa in 2020 and later expanded to several cities across Africa, including Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Windhoek, Kigali, Gaborone and Kampala, becoming a must-attend experience for lovers of soul and RnB.

Among the DJs on set was DJ Akio, DJ Anselm, and DJ Bryan who mixed up music from the ‘90s to the early 2000s. PHOTO/GALAXY
The last edition did not just bring young corporates but older guys as well who sang their lungs out, danced non-stop, and did not even think about sitting down for more than four hours non-stop.
From classic ’90s RnB anthems, to the latest chart-topping hits, the DJ lineup that included DJ Akio, DJ Anselm, and DJ Bryan, took the crowd on an electrifying musical journey.
It was an RnB lover’s paradise, as jams from Keith Sweat, Lionel Richie, Usher, Michael Jackson, SZA and more blazed off the speakers. Songs such as If I Was a Boy by Beyonce, Adele’s Rolling Into The Deep, Fugee’s Killing Me Softly, Water Runs Dry by Boyz 11 Men, Where You Are by Blu *3 and Goodlyf as well as The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica all became sing-along sessions to the crowd.
The dancefloor was packed as the crowd was unstoppable with their unmatched energy while sipping on Johnnie Walker cocktails.
Uganda joined the movement in 2023, and since then, Strictly Soul has been hosted in Kampala thrice, growing bigger and better with each edition.
The Kampala version of the event is powered by The Production House (TPH) and Camelot Concept and with the success of previous editions, one thing is clear, Strictly Soul is not just an event, it is a vibe, a movement, and a celebration of timeless music.
