Ugandan filmmaker Loukman Ali was issued with a cease and desist letter over unauthorised use of Red Bull trademarks in his latest short film, PTY.
The filmmaker did not deny his offence as he sarcastically said, ‘they will be fine’ .
“True!! They will be fine, we have majje here,” he replied to one of the tweets.
In documents sent by the legal department at Red Bull, they require Loukman to immediately remove and cease all distribution of the short film PTY from any and all platforms, including YouTube, social media, websites or public screenings, provide written confirmation that he complied with the request, refrain from any future unauthorised use of Red Bull’s trademarks, logos or brand elements, among others.
Failure to comply, he was warned of legal action, including but not limited to seeking injunctive relief, monetary damages and recovery of legal costs.
