Renowned Ugandan fashion model Judith Heard has left social media buzzing for days over a post she made on X following the death of a 23-year-old patron at Mezo Noir, Kololo in Kampala.
Martha Ahumuza Murari is said to have collapsed in one of the hangout offices in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
She was later rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
In her relatively long post, Heard said Martha’s death was a painful reminder of how quickly things can change in life.
“I can’t stop thanking God for saving me from the worldly life and helping me quit everything that was leading me down the wrong path. Every day, I see more reasons why His grace and guidance have been my greatest protection. Life is fragile, and the world can be cruel—this is why I choose to walk in God’s light and encourage others to be mindful of the environments they put themselves in. The tragic passing of Martha Ahumuza Murari is a painful reminder of how quickly things can change. A young woman full of promise, taken too soon. Whether it was a medical condition or foul play, this is a wake-up call for all women—please watch out for each other. We must be intentional about keeping each other safe,” she said.
She urged young women to always be cautious whenever they are out in public, especially in places where drinks are involved.
“Never leave your drink unattended, and if a friend is in distress, don’t ignore it. If you notice something suspicious, speak up. The world is full of dangers, and unfortunately, not everyone around us has good intentions. Martha’s story is heartbreaking, and I pray for her family to find strength during this difficult time. Ladies, let’s not just mourn her—let’s learn from this and do our best to protect one another. May her soul rest in peace,” she posted attracting reaction from several socialites and online celebrities, among other netizens.
“I just wish people on the internet were more careful with the stories, words and comments they put out there about someone’s death. We need to practice silence when we don’t understand a certain topic or incident mostly when it’s about death and lastly let’s reduce on the way we judge people mainly those we don’t know personally,” socialite Sheilah Gashumba said.

Social media comedian and radio personality, Martha Kay also called out Heard saying: “Wow, @IAMJUDITHHEARD we don’t even know the cause of death yet. Even her own father asked people to stop speculating until the authorities provide a conclusive report. Your post was insensitive, and spiritual maturity teaches us that there’s a time and place for everything. I’m genuinely happy for your testimony, and I thank God for it. But sharing it in this context, especially when the cause of death is still unknown, feels inappropriate.”
It’s frustrating how some self-righteous people turn someone’s death into a self-serving lesson to highlight why they supposedly live better or make smarter choices.
