If you watched the show Suits, what is your memory of it? It could be the drama, the cases, Meghan Markle or something totally different. Anyway, if you remember the show well, you would know that her character, Rachel Zane left the show and there was a joke about her meeting her prince charming… poetic right?
Anyway, for those that may not know, Suits was an American legal drama series set in a fictional New York law firm; the series follows Mike Ross, a college dropout with a photographic memory, as he works as an associate for successful and charismatic attorney Harvey Specter. The show mainly focuses on Mike and Harvey winning cases or closing them.
Well, a lot happened and so much has gone on, by the end of Season 9 in 2019, Mike’s character was no longer part of the show, in fact, he only comes back at the end of it.
As you may know, Suits was licensed by Netflix, it is popularity surged and here we are, the show has a spin-off.
Titled Suits LA, this follows one Ted Black.
Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.
But his firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of attorneys who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they cannot help but mix their personal and professional lives.
On top of it all, Ted must come to terms with the events that years ago led him to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.
Ted Black is brought to life by a familiar actor, Stephen Amell, remember him as Arrow in Arrow.
He is the charming entertainment lawyer whose jobs are about actors, in fact a real actor makes a cameo as themselves, the late, John Amos makes an appearance for instance.
It is a stark difference from the original where they usually dealt with corporate affairs, the world of entertainment maybe fun on its own but making legal jargon out of it is such a big job, but again, one cannot help to want to see where the journey goes.
But Suits LA still carries the potential of its predecessor, there are chances the show will be a hit. Amell and team are fun to watch, his character as a quick talking and convincing lawyer is definitely a character we have seen on this show in one way or the other.
Will Suits LA outdo the predecessor? That is a big ask and still too early to ask, but you could find out when the show goes on air this Sunday. For Uganda, episodes will be available on Showmax every Monday.
