Halima Namakula’s Grandson, Ryan Dee Kiwanuka, earns full-ride American football scholarship

The legacy of success continues to grow in the household of iconic Ugandan singer Halima Namakula, as her grandson, Ryan Dee Kiwanuka, has achieved a remarkable milestone. Ryan, the son of film producer Hemdee Kiwanuka, has earned a full-ride scholarship to play American football at Western New Mexico University, marking an exciting new chapter in his athletic journey.

Ryan’s path to this achievement wasn’t easy. Despite facing significant setbacks in high school, including being sidelined during his junior and senior years due to team politics, Ryan refused to give up on his dream. Instead of quitting, he found alternative avenues to showcase his talent, including participating in independent showcases and undergoing intense training.

Reflecting on the challenges, Ryan shared, “It was a tough road. There were moments when I questioned whether this dream was even possible, but I refused to let circumstances define my future.” His persistence and dedication ultimately caught the attention of Western New Mexico University’s coaches, Billy Hickman and Frankie Ayon. They praised Ryan’s determination and work ethic, calling him “an outstanding young man with an inspiring story of what it means to never give up.”

Ryan’s grandmother, Halima Namakula, expressed immense pride in his success, saying, “Ryan is a testament to the power of perseverance. His journey hasn’t been easy, but he has shown that determination can overcome any obstacle. We are all so proud of him.”

This achievement follows closely on the heels of Ryan’s father, Hemdee Kiwanuka, gaining global recognition for his production of the action-thriller Desert Down, which starred Hollywood actors Kellan Lutz and Cam Gigandet. With Ryan’s scholarship, the Kiwanuka family continues to make significant strides in both the sports and entertainment industries.

Now, Ryan looks forward to proving himself on the collegiate level, eager to build a lasting legacy both on and off the field. His story is a powerful reminder that with hard work, faith, and perseverance, even the toughest obstacles can be overcome.

Congratulations to Ryan Kiwanuka and the entire family on this incredible achievement.
