Paddyman Kayiwa is a church boy who chanced on sharing space in a production studio with Elly Wamala. That moment was later the anchor for his career and he has gone on to produce some of the songs on Uganda’s hit list in the last two decades. At the height of the musical beef between Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine, each of them trusted him to produce their next hits, a kind of competition he says was healthy because the audience got good music while the artistes developed themselves.
What was your motivation for choosing a career in music production?
Making other people happy. I never cared whether it paid or not. Music was a passion and I was inspired by Philly Lutaaya. I respect people who love music and you only see me making comments if someone is giving a distorted message.
