Nabasa returns with another gospel bang after two-year hiatus

Gospel singer Lilian Nabasa has left hundreds of Christian believers and music lovers in Western Uganda excited after she unleashed a new hit after a two-year hiatus.

Known for her 2014 hit song ‘Calenda Yawe Noha Ogyine’, Nabasa has shocked music waves with ‘Mpairwe Omugisha’ after what many of her fans described as a worthwhile long break from music.

She told this reporter that the music holiday was intended for her to freshen her mind and think of the next step as she sought career growth in music.

Produced by Sure Tune Studios under the watchful eye of Edrine Paul, Mpairwe Omugisha is an inspiring song that narrates the true story of how God’s unconditional favor and blessings have completely transformed her life.

“I offer it as a prayer to everyone’s family and for everyone seeking God’s intervention in their lives. The song is not just like any other music, it is a heartfelt reminder to trust in God’s plan; it is a reflection of my faith and gratitude for how far the Lord has brought me,” she said.

Born in Ngararama Isingiro District, Nabasa who started her music career in 2009 has a number of gospel hits to her name and they include; ‘Calenda Yawe, Tokamanya, Nofaki nensi, Akaihura Amabanja and Yesu Yatayaya, among others.

She prides performing on big stages, including before President Museveni during the October 2024 national prayer breakfast at State House, Entebbe.

“When I got a call inviting me as the guest artiste at the national prayer breakfast, I felt so nervous. Even when I reached there, I kept wondering how to start when the mentioned my name. People clapped hands as I marched to the stage to perform for before the president and ministers. It was a great moment. I realized that the president paused what he was doing only to pay attention to my performance. Seeing Mama Janet making a round of applause and clapping hands was encouraging,” she narrated.

During her music break, Nabasa says she had been concentrating on other income generating projects.

“I have been focusing on my boutique business which is situated in Mbarara City but now I am back and fresh to start from where I stopped,” she said.
