Focus on releasing songs not concerts, Nince Henry tells musicians

Ugandan musician: Nince Henry.

In the last three years, we have seen a surge in the number of throwback concerts at different venues.

We have witnessed artists like Aziz Azion, Messach Semakula, Ronald Mayinja, Juliana Kanyomozi, Iryn Namakula, Catherine Kusasira and Fred Ssebatta among others staging concerts without necessarily having new music.

This year promises more throwback concerts from Ragga Dee, Naava Grey and Stecia Mayanja who have announced dates for their upcoming concerts.

Much as the fans enjoy these concerts, songwriter and singer Nince Henry feels they add no value to the industry. He feels artists should focus more on making new music than staging concerts.

“A concert based on your past relevancy is literally closing off your career! If you have no current airplay relevancy, Go to studio, record music, and then have something to say! Funded concerts are career kill-pills,” he posted.

He added that unless someone has an after-concert plan, don’t do a concert.
