Over the weekend, legendary Ugandan Hip Hop artist The Mith lit up The Villa with his much-anticipated concert, “The Ugandan Live.” The event was a vibrant celebration of Hip Hop culture, infused with the unmistakable essence of Uganda Waragi, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening.
Guests were welcomed with a complimentary cocktail, specially crafted from Uganda Waragi Lemon and Ginger. The menu featured three signature drinks inspired by The Mith’s music and persona—“So UG,” “The Ugandan,” and “Lighter.” With these in hand, attendees dove into a night where music, culture, and flavor merged seamlessly.
Hillary Baguma, Uganda Breweries’ Manager of Mainstream Spirits, perfectly captured the synergy between The Mith and Uganda Waragi, saying, “It’s no secret that The Mith loves Uganda Waragi, and Uganda Waragi loves The Mith. We are proud to support his vision and contribute to this celebration of Ugandan Hip Hop.” Baguma also hinted at the upcoming Noise Nation concert featuring Dexta Daps on December 14, underscoring Uganda Breweries’ commitment to unique music experiences.
The night’s lineup was a nostalgic nod to the golden era of Ugandan Hip Hop. Veterans like Lyrical G took fans on a trip down memory lane with his signature 90s flow. Other acts, including Pryce Teeba, Viboyo, and Santana, brought the house down with a mix of classic hits and fresh tracks, showcasing the evolving sound of Ugandan Hip Hop.
Adding to the excitement, the stage was set ablaze by a jaw-dropping performance from the Noise Nation dance crew. Their electrifying breakdance and dancehall routines heightened anticipation for the upcoming concert, leaving the crowd roaring for more.
Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. As the lights dimmed and the instrumental of the Ugandan national anthem played, the crowd erupted. Backed by the phenomenal Double Black band, The Mith delivered a powerful set, performing hits from his extensive discography. Highlights included fan favorites like “Lighter,” “Eh Mama” (featuring the RnB Kyabazinga, Maro), and “Go Hard.”
“The Ugandan Live” wasn’t just a concert—it was a toast to the rich heritage of Ugandan Hip Hop. Adding a personal touch, The Mith’s family, including Senior Presidential Advisor on Industry Amelia Kyambadde and his parents, were in attendance. Their presence underscored the deep-rooted connections and sense of community within Uganda’s music industry.
As the night came to a close, “The Ugandan Live” stood as a testament to The Mith’s artistry and the enduring spirit of Ugandan Hip Hop—a night that will surely go down in history.
