After 20 years of making people laugh, comedian Valentine Muhereza, also known as Kachaina, is set to host his first major show Orugyendo Rwa Kachaina on December 21, 2024, at University Inn, Mbarara.
Kachaina, a village boy from Kasanda District, began his journey into comedy at a young age. He first entertained fellow students with gymnastics, and later ventured into music after completing his O’ Level studies. Facing financial constraints, he paused his education, but later resumed his A’ Level studies at Welden Secondary School in Mbarara. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Bishop Stuart University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Victoria University.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kachaina expressed his deep love and passion for the arts, which he credits for his long-standing success. He revealed that the motivation behind his upcoming show is to thank God for guiding him through numerous challenges.
“I thank God for the life he has given me and for helping me through the ups and downs. I also thank my parents, the late father and my mother, for always being there for me. I appreciate those who have supported me and not spread false rumors,” Kachaina said.
He continued, “I’ve been a photographer, I’ve performed comedy in women’s dresses, and even done gymnastics. In this show, I want to thank God for helping me through it all. In education, I’ve thrived even when I was hopeless. Now, I’m an example to many young people who have been inspired to return to school.”
Kachaina also shared his plans to establish a media training college to help young people develop practical skills that will empower them to earn a living.
“I’ve also started Kachaina Media, which aims to train young boys and girls passionate about the media industry. We are 70 percent through with preparations to offer hands-on training in videography, editing, photography, and more. Once someone learns how to fly a drone, it changes their life. I encourage everyone to attend the show and support this initiative,” he said.
Ms Loyce Becungwire, Kachaina’s mother, expressed her gratitude for the love people have shown her son. She acknowledged that God has been with him every step of the way.

“I’m so thankful to see so many people here. Thank you, my son, Kachaina, for making meaningful, developmental friendships. You came from Bushenyi alone and have now built strong connections. To all his friends and supporters, I thank you. Let’s meet on Saturday to enjoy the show together.”
Kachaina, in addition to his comedy career, has also worked in local film acting and the media. He is known for his songs such as Nibibasika, Twongere Ahakushoma, and Mukama Nyamba.
