The International Crimes Division (ICD) of the High Court has granted a Shs3 million cash bail to Kampala City businessman and socialite Nasser Nduhukire, also known as Don Nasser.

Together with Promise Ateete, Don Nasser is battling charges of aggravated child trafficking and defilement.

On Wednesday, presiding judge Andrew Bashaija also granted a Shs50 million non-cash bond to each of his four sureties with orders that the accused should deposit his passport with the registrar, and international travel only permissible by court.

Court also directed Nduhukire to report to the deputy registrar monthly for six months thus submitting the case for trial before a single judge.

“I am satisfied that the applicant has a fixed place of abode and the fact that he went through the back door as the state alleges that he jumped over his fence and fled to an unknown place, this does not deny him being a resident,” Justice Bashaija ruled.

Justice Bashaija observed that although the state and investigating officer’s affidavit mention pending charges, the court cannot consider these as prior offenses.

“Considering the gravity of the offenses, the court must balance the need for a fair trial with the potential for substantial delay,” court ruled, noting that Don Nasser was arrested on September 20 and spent over 2 months in Luzira Prison before committal to the ICD.
