Chouchou & Co: Redefining Ready-to-Wear in Kampala

The fashion house works with local artisans to create a handmade cotton collection. The cotton is grown, spun, and handwoven in Uganda. They are also working on refining the fabric for consistent use in future collections.

In Uganda’s growing ready-to-wear fashion space, one brand stands out as a trailblazer for wearable yet timeless pieces. Chouchou & Co, founded by Migisha Ahereza, has established itself as a staple for those seeking stylish yet relaxed attire. With its commitment to quality and sustainability, the brand caters to a clientele that values both elegance and practicality.

With its focus on quality, sustainability, and Ugandan culture, Chouchou & Co is not just a brand but a proof to the potential of ready-to-wear in Uganda.

We sat down with Ahereza to delve into Chouchou & Co’s design philosophy, its embrace of Ugandan culture, and the challenges of carving a niche in Uganda’s fashion industry.

Q: What inspired the creation of Chouchou & Co., and how would you describe its journey so far?

Chouchou & Co was born out of my lifelong passion for fashion. From a young age, I loved creating, and in 2017, I decided to turn that passion into a business. The journey has been both exciting and challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. Watching the brand grow and resonate with people has been one of my greatest joys.
