Nyege Nyege Festival embraces responsible drinking with 4,220 liters of free water

As the Nyege Nyege Festival enters its thrilling third day, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has stepped up efforts to promote responsible drinking among revelers. In an extraordinary gesture aimed at fostering moderation, over 4,220 liters of free drinking water have been provided to festival-goers, encouraging them to space their drinks and stay hydrated while enjoying the festivities.

This initiative is part of UBL’s broader responsible drinking campaign, which has been brought to life at the festival’s Responsible Drinking Sensitization Pit Stop. Through engaging activities like karaoke challenges and trivia sessions, attendees are not only entertained but also educated on positive drinking habits. Lucky participants have walked away with water bottles and other goodies designed to support mindful alcohol consumption.

A commitment to positive drinking

Speaking at the festival, Brenda Kobutungi, UBL’s Corporate Relations Manager for Positive Drinking, highlighted the importance of using platforms like Nyege Nyege to promote moderation.

“We aim to inspire consumers to make informed choices through initiatives like DRINKiQ.com, where we address underage drinking, binge drinking, and the importance of moderation. Nyege Nyege is a perfect opportunity to amplify this message,” Kobutungi said.

The campaign aligns with UBL’s 10-year Spirit of Progress action plan, which prioritizes responsible drinking as a core pillar.

Tackling drink driving with awareness

At the same venue, UBL has also spotlighted its Wrong Side of the Road campaign, an impactful initiative aimed at educating revelers on the dangers of drink driving. By press time, over 500 festival-goers had been directly sensitized, with many expressing a clear understanding of the dangers associated with the vice.

Nyege Nyege: Fun with Responsibility

While Nyege Nyege is globally renowned for its vibrant music, culture, and party atmosphere, UBL’s interventions have underscored the festival’s commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable environment. By seamlessly blending entertainment with awareness, the brewery ensures that revelers can indulge in the festivities responsibly.

As the festival continues, UBL’s efforts remind attendees that moderation and mindful choices are key to sustaining the energy and excitement that make Nyege Nyege a standout event on the global cultural calendar.
