Ugandan US-based fashion designer Joe Malaika was voted Boston’s top designer at the recent Boston Fashion Awards that happened at the Courtyard Marriott Boston, Massachusetts.
Speaking to Sqoop about his win, the designer was overwhelmed with gratitude, saying this award fuels his passion to push fashion boundaries.
“This award honours the courageous amputees who boldly walked the runway with me, those we have lost in the past few days and my fellow designer, Mel Stern, whose talent inspires me,” he said.
Malaika (Right) thanked everyone who supported and voted for him including his fans, family and clients and also said a nomination was already a dream come true and the award is only an icing on the cake.
Meanwhile on December 8, Malaika will hold his annual Excessive Fashion Show at Sheraton Boston to celebrate a decade of Excessive Fashion and will feature brave amputees on the runway. Congratulations Joe!
