Nexus Lounge closes amid rising competition and financial struggles

Once a popular nightlife destination in Najjera, Nexus Lounge has officially closed its doors, marking the end of an era for the establishment. The bar, which had enjoyed significant success prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, is said to have succumbed to stiff competition from newer venues such as Isabella Lounge in Ntinda, La Venti, and X-hub in Najjera.

Nexus Lounge initially rose to prominence before the lockdown and, after the unfortunate passing of its proprietor Ivan Kakooza due to COVID-19, returned under new management with renewed vigor. For some time, the lounge maintained its loyal clientele. However, the situation began to shift three months ago, with customer numbers dwindling on regular days, unlike in the past when it was a bustling hotspot every night of the week.

The lounge had managed to attract crowds on Thursdays and Sundays thanks to performances by Abeeka Band and The Gang Band.

Rumors surfaced that the bar had been put up for sale about three months ago. However, the new occupant reportedly lasted just a month, unable to turn a profit. Since then, Nexus Lounge has remained closed, and patrons have been unable to access the venue.

In a recent development, Asante Auctioneers Ltd has published a notice in local newspapers announcing the public auction of Nexus Lounge’s assets. Items such as TVs, tables, fridges, gas cookers, and furniture are listed for sale, with the auction set to take place 14 days after the publication date.
