Lilian Mbabazi and band serenade golfers

There were concerns that with the success of the reunion concert a few months ago, Blu*3 would no longer do solo projects. It is also a question we raised around the time but the girls insisted they would only be performing together once booked as Blu*3.

Because most of us believe by seeing, we witnessed Lilian Mbabazi put up a worthy performance last Saturday night alongside her Sundowners Band in Entebbe during the 2024 edition of the Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open.

After a long day on the course, Dayne Jr. Moore, a South Africa-based Zambian coolly navigated the course to claim the 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Professional Open title, securing a two-stroke win over Rwanda’s ever-impressive Celestin Nsanzuwera.

As the sun set on Entebbe, the event wrapped up with a bang, with the organisers making sure it was a night to remember, featuring a ‘masked glam’ theme with guests dressed to impress in black with a splash of gold. The whiskey flowed in style — whether neat, on the rocks, or mixed into elegant cocktails as guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner.

Lillian Mbabazi and her band then took over after an hour of deejay mixes.

Being a totally new audience to what she has been exposed to, the talented songstress perfectly curated her playlist and every song and every note she hit, mesmerising revellers. She played her songs, including Am In Danger, Vitamin, Dagala and Kuma Obudde and those from her Blu*3 days such as Nsanyuka Nawe, Hitaji and Where You Are, among others.

Lilian and the band put up an electric atmosphere that kept the celebrations going late into the evening. She kept them on their feet dancing the entire time she was on stage. Some even went and joined her in singing some lines they crammed.

With the 2024 edition now in the books, the baton has been passed to Lugazi Hill Golf Club, which will host the highly-anticipated 2025 Uganda Open.
