We have on several occasions heard songwriters and producers demand more payments from artistes, especially when the songs they wrote and produced become hits. Some artistes go ahead and pay more while others do not.
Singer, composer and writer Ykee Benda has come up with a lasting solution that will sort this once and for all.
According to the Mpaka Records boss, the only way to sort this out is by signing off contracts.
“The performing artistes need to start writing small contracts with the composers, be it producers or writers, otherwise they keep getting chaotic when their songs become big,” he says.
With the contracts, every party will have agreed to the terms and conditions of the song and this will be a lasting solution to one of the things that has been disturbing the industry.
