Reachel Akidi wins Miss Tourism Karamoja crown

Reachel Akidi was crowned Miss Tourism Karamoja over the weekend, triumphing over her fellow contestants in a glamorous event held at Moroto Resort Hotel in Moroto District. The prestigious occasion was graced by Mr Longoli Simon Peter Apalochibakori, the Director of Karamoja Development Forum, who attended as the chief guest.

The event kicked off at around 6 pm with guests arriving and filling the venue with a palpable sense of excitement. By 9 pm, the venue was bustling with anticipation as the contestants took to the runway for the official unveiling session. The night was filled with a variety of stage activities, including traditional dances, cultural showcases, and fashion segments, with the audience enthusiastically cheering for their favorite contestants.

Ultimately, Reachel Akidi from Abim District emerged victorious, claiming the Miss Tourism Karamoja crown. Anastasia Atyang secured second place, while Jacinta Lockeris finished in third. The top three contestants will now join other regional winners in a bootcamp scheduled for the coming weeks, where they will undergo intensive training and mentorship in preparation for the national competition.

The grand finale, set to take place on September 14th at Serena Hotel in Kampala, promises to be a spectacular event. Contestants will compete in various categories, including talent, cultural awareness, and advocacy for tourism development. The winner will be selected by a panel of esteemed judges, with partial input from public votes. The crowned Miss Tourism Uganda 2024/25 will take on the role of ambassador for Ugandan tourism, promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty on both national and international stages.

Reachel Akidi’s victory not only highlights her personal achievements but also brings attention to the unique cultural and touristic attractions of the Karamoja region.
