Kirk Franklin and Maverick City bring praise to Uganda

The Makerere Sports Grounds, traditionally a hub for sports activities, took on a different role last Saturday evening as it hosted the first-ever Kingdom Tour concert featuring renowned gospel artists Maverick City and Kirk Franklin.

The event drew an impressive crowd of worshippers and music lovers, resulting in a hugely successful night of praise and celebration.

Earlier in the day, VIP ticket holders, who had paid Shs250,000 for an exclusive Meet and Greet experience, had the chance to interact with the stars, capturing moments through photos and enjoying personal connections before the concert kicked off.

Fenon Events ensured the event received the grandeur it deserved, delivering a stage setup that was nothing short of spectacular. The beautifully designed stage added to the event’s atmosphere, enhanced by seamless lighting, sound, and graphics that kept the energy high throughout the night.

At 8 p.m., Maverick City Music, including Naomi Raine and Chandler Moore, took the stage, captivating the audience with a powerful and memorable performance. Their setlist featured songs like Million Little Miracles, Man of Your Word, Come Rest on Us, Jireh, I Thank God, More Than Able, and For My Good, leaving fans longing for more.

As the audience was still relishing Maverick City’s performance, the legendary Kirk Franklin made his grand entrance. This was the moment everyone had been eagerly anticipating.

In his second performance in Uganda, Kirk Franklin brought his signature energy and charisma, electrifying the crowd with hits like Bless Me, Ok, Smile, and the crowd favorite Stomp. His dynamic presence had the audience on their feet, singing and dancing along.

Other standout performances came from Nigerian gospel sensation Tim Godfrey, as well as Uganda’s very own John Marie and Sam Kimera, who infused the event with the vibrant spirit of Ugandan gospel music.
