A growing tension between socialite Zari Hassan and her husband Shakib Lutaaya has captured the attention of social media, sparking widespread discussion over the past two days.
The discord between the couple reportedly began after Shakib accused Zari of allowing Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, the father of two of her children, into her home in South Africa to celebrate their daughter Tiffah’s birthday. The accusation led to a heated exchange between the couple, which has since spilled over onto social media.
In a viral video clip, Zari addressed the situation, clarifying that Diamond Platnumz did not inform her in advance of his visit to South Africa for the birthday celebration. However, she emphasized that Diamond has every right to see his children, as he is their father. The South African-based businesswoman further criticized Shakib, accusing him of insecurity and childish behavior. She also pointed out that he has not contributed significantly to their relationship.
In response, Shakib expressed that while he had no issue with Diamond visiting his children, his concerns were rooted in the potential implications of their meeting. He admitted that such situations often cause him mental distress. Shakib also opened up about feeling disrespected by Zari on multiple occasions, stating that he had previously resorted to posting quotes on social media as a way to cope with his pain. However, he now feels resigned to the situation.
“I have now decided to always keep quiet and let them do whatever they want. First of all, she is more famous than me and has many followers, so I cannot battle with her and waste my time explaining myself,” Shakib said in a telephone interview with Gossip Live.
Shakib further lamented that he had been mistaken in believing that his relationship with Zari was serious. “I made a mistake to think that we are in a serious relationship with Zari. I think she was just after something else. I am just like an image,” he added, clearly disheartened.
Contrary to rumors circulating online, Shakib also addressed claims that he is financially dependent on Zari. He insisted that he is a hardworking man who takes care of himself and revealed that he has only received money from Zari once—approximately 1.5 million Ugandan Shillings—during a trip to Tanzania. He dismissed the notion that Zari supports him financially.
As the drama continues to unfold, social media users have been quick to weigh in, with opinions varying widely. Some have sided with Zari, while others have expressed sympathy for Shakib, highlighting the complexities of their high-profile relationship.
