Contrary to earlier rumors, the Ugandan police have confirmed that artiste King Saha was not arrested. Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan area, stated that King Saha was only cautioned, and the incident was actually related to the event organizers and bar owners.
“We did not arrest Saha,” Owoyesigyire emphasized in an interview with Spark TV. “However, we want to remind event organizers and bar owners to always seek permission from the authorities when hosting big artistes.”
According to Owoyesigyire, the Inspector General of Police should have been alerted through a letter to provide additional security for the event, which featured King Saha as the headlining act at the ‘Shades of Kampala Night’ at The Villa in Bukoto last Wednesday.
However, the performance was cut short by the police, sparking confusion among attendees. Mr Henry, the emcee of the event, revealed that he was instructed by the bar’s management to stop King Saha from performing, citing that the venue was not cleared to host artistes.
“I went and told Saha, who told me to ignore them, and I returned to find a solution,” Mr Henry explained. Despite the interruption, King Saha’s performance was reportedly well-received by the audience.
The incident highlights the importance of proper clearance and communication between event organizers, authorities, and artistes to ensure successful and incident-free events.”
