Ntale, who launched her professional music career at Swangz Avenue, cautioned aspiring artistes against rushing into contracts without fully understanding the terms. “Read and fully understand the contract you’re about to sign, because those contracts are binding. You might sign a lifetime contract without realizing it,” she warned in a recent interview.
She shared her personal experience, recalling how excitement and promises of TV and radio airplay can blindside an artiste. “But my advice is to stay calm, get a lawyer who understands contracts, and sign something favorable. Avoid long-term contracts, as people’s tastes and preferences can change. Give yourself a timeframe that allows flexibility,” she advised.
Ntale’s own experience with Swangz Avenue lasted from 2013 to 2017, after which she left to pursue her solo career under her sister Sandra Ntale’s management. Her words of wisdom are a valuable reminder for upcoming artistes to protect their interests and make informed decisions in the music industry.
