Kataleya and Kandle
Kataleya and Kandle seem to have lingering issues with their former management, Theron Music Company, that need resolution before they can fully settle as a duo.
The pair, who have been on a musical break for over a year following their suspension from the label, have recently returned only to face new challenges. They have been summoned by the police on allegations of libel.
Both artists received summons from the Regional CID Officer of Kampala Metropolitan Police East.
“The office is investigating an alleged case of libel vide the above-mentioned reference on Theron Music Company Limited. This is therefore to invite you to report to the REGIONAL CID OFFICE, KAMPALA METROPOLITAN EAST at Jinja Road on 4th July, 2024, at 9:00 hours for an interview and statement recording to enable us to conclude our investigations. You are particularly required to report to the investigating officer D/ASP Muyinda Isaac on 0774563903 who will take you through the interview and statement recording,” the summons stated.
In response, Kataleya and Kandle issued a statement to their fans regarding the police summons. They mentioned receiving calls and texts from unidentified individuals who made unlawful threats against them, some posing as music promoters attempting to book them for shows in Masaka.
“However, according to our understanding, we should have received formal police summons prior to being intimidated, tracked, and receiving threats,” the statement read.
They further added that since those who issued threats and tried to track them using CMI (army) and Flying Squad were unsuccessful in their attempts, they have now turned to legal and lawful measures.
