THE VIDEO: Tukilimu – Gloria Bugie

Gloria Bugie

There is a visual concept we have refused to kill. It is the hiding place for every director who is confused about a romantic concept. It is a return to the African traditional society, but imagineered with illusions of modernity. In this concept, the men are always bare-chested, the lady is often coming from the well or carrying a food basket.

Tukilimu runs to that concept for the first half of the video, then is confused on whether to transition out of it. One leg of the video keeps locked there, while the gentleman transitions to the current world. And that date in the video does not add up.

Finally, when everyone has run out of concepts, the video breaks out into some choreographed dances with the backdrop of a graffiti wall painting. Gloria Bugie then enters a lit booth, dances in bits and boom, video is done. No extra comment on this video, just a hanging viewer. What just happened?
