The video starts off with a village residents meeting addressed by the archetypal Ugandan politician, all bloated in his kitenge wear. He goes on to reiterate all the achievements of his leadership. It’s soon question and answer moment, with one of the backbenchers raising a poignant question on youth unemployment.
The rest of the video highlights decay in different sectors of the economy, with a nostalgic review of the past. It’s clip after clip of the army on the road, the worsening state of roads, and the dysfunction.
The video ends with the politician pretending to listen and take notes. The tired residents rise up in disbelief and disband the meeting, and plead with the politician to let go, and halt his lies. The video draws us back to the famous question; does art imitate life? Should art go beyond a mere reproduction of what is? To what can be.
