The 13th edition of Bakiga Nation, a celebration of culture, unity, and solidarity, took place on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Indian Association Grounds. The event, which has grown stronger over the past seven years, drew hundreds of revelers from the Kigezi region and beyond.
The Pilsner cultural experience came alive through music, dance, art, food, and drinks, showcasing the rich culture of the Bakiga people. The event featured performances by various artists, including Sir Fact Zmani, Bowman, Peace Mbabazi, and Sheebah Karungi.
Gospel artiste Peace Mbabazi mesmerized the audience with her gospel music takeover, performing hits like ,Ninsiima Mukama’, ‘Yesu, Bwayima Yobusasi’, ‘Osiime’ and ‘Bwayima Yobusasi’ among others. Sheebah Karungi followed with an energetic hour-long performance, getting the crowd dancing to her hits like ‘Wakikuba’, ‘Nkujukira’ and ‘Nakyuka’ among others before concluding her performance with ‘Bwepaba’.
Speaking at the event, Pilsner Lager Brand Manager Edgar Kihumuro emphasized the brand’s commitment to celebrating and safeguarding diverse cultures through various cultural platforms. The event also featured a unique percussion performance by Qwela band, fusing modern and traditional music. Attendees enthusiastically joined in during the Ekizino performances, and other entertainers like Moses Snazz, Bowman Aremwaki, and DJ Bugy added to the excitement. Rukundo Egumeho delivered a wholesome cultural and musical extravaganza, staying true to its roots.
Overall, Bakiga Nation 13th edition was a resounding success, celebrating culture, togetherness, and solidarity among the Bakiga people and their friends.
