In March, Ugandan dance group Hypers Kids Africa, from Salama, Munyonyo, a suburb of Kampala, traveled to the US to participate in season 19 of America’s Got Talent. A video clip of their performance during the auditions has now gone viral on social media.
Dressed in attire featuring the colors of the Ugandan flag, the energetic group mesmerized the audience and judges with their two-minute routine. Their choreography, packed with electric and acrobatic moves, was both unpredictable and entertaining.
Simon Cowell praised their performance, saying, “It’s incredible how you packed so much into two minutes – from fun to serious and back to fun again. This was the perfect audition!”
Judge Heidi Klum added, “It was a moment of excitement! You had us all entertained, and we’re thrilled to see you progress to the next level.”
The group received a unanimous “yes” from all four judges, securing their spot in the competition. Details of their next performance will be shared soon.
Uganda has a history of talented young performers shining on international stages. In 2019, siblings Esther and Ezekiel Muteesasira won East Africa Got Talent, and later participated in Canada’s Got Talent in 2022. Another dance troupe, the Ghetto Kids, reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent Season 16 in 2023, finishing in sixth place.
