Ray G returns to his roots for Mbarara City Festival

Ray G

Mbarara City is gearing up for its annual festival, scheduled to take place on June 21-22, 2024. The event, managed by Destination Ankole, aims to position Mbarara City as a trade and hospitality hub. This year’s headliner is none other than RayG, a renowned musician who has roots in the city.

At the festival’s launch, RayG emphasized the importance of promoting local culture, language, and food to put Mbarara City on the map. He expressed gratitude to the city and its people for supporting him throughout his career. “I came to this city with nothing but determination. You supported me, fed me, and have been behind me all along,” he said.

RayG urged fellow musicians from Ankole to unite for a successful festival, stressing that together, they can achieve more. The Mbarara City Clerk, Assay Abireebe, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the festival’s goals of advertising Mbarara as a business hub, tourist destination, and attractive location for investors.

The festival will feature an exhibition hub for local businesses, and organizers expect over 500,000 attendees. “This is an opportunity for locals to make money, especially traders, Boda Boda operators, restaurants, pork joints, and lodges,” said Edmand Aryampika, proprietor of Destination Ankole.
