Eh! This is how I would summarise what I think of Baby Reindeer. But first, the story premise. Baby Reindeer is about Donny, a stand-up comedian who gives Martha a drink on the house and this little act of kindness spirals into a stalker situation. Before you jump to conclusions, Donny is not the stalker. Martha is. I can hear the snickers of people who believe women cannot stalk a man. Baby Reindeer shows us that not only is it possible but it is also a complex and disturbing matter. Heavy on the disturbing.

The simple summary is that Martha is stalking Donny. However, Baby Reindeer has so many other facets. He has ghosts from his past that haunt him and the relationships he has. His past also makes his relationship with Martha so complicated that you will find yourself shouting at him for making it easy for the stalker. In some scenes, it almost feels like he wants to be stalked. He does not but there are some messed up scenes that might make you give up watching.

The series is very highly-rated, which if you have followed rating trends long enough means either of two things. Either it is a moving story that you can watch with the entire family or it is a mind-boggling rollercoaster that will leave you questioning if people are alright. Baby Reindeer falls in the latter category. You will keep watching it because it was shot at such a good pace that makes the suspense grow. You just want to know what is going to happen next. Yet you will also keep asking yourself what you are watching. If dark comedy and psychological dramas are already something right up your alley, then you might not even be fazed. I highly doubt that though because Baby Reindeer is based on the life of Gadd who plays Donny, so you cannot help wondering which parts of the story are real, and which are artistic license.

Again, only watch this if psychological dramas are your thing, and very far away from minors.
