Ray G shuts down Cricket Oval

By 3 pm yesterday, some global buses were seen at Cricket Oval while some others came later on, ferrying revellers from Mbarara to Kampala for Ray G’s concert.

This was part of the deal the artiste had with the bus company as part of their sponsorship deal.

Once inside, revelers were already settled at the Cricket Oval for Ray G’s concert. On any other day, the show was safe for performances to kick off at that time especially those that start with huge numbers in the audience.

Most people were seen charting, taking selfies, and eating and drinking their money’s worth during the afternoon.

Fenon Events was behind the production of the show and with their expertise, the stage, sound, and lighting were on point.

The action started later in the evening with Western-based artistes kicking off the performances. Artistes including T Paul, Fact Zamani, Gboy Revinz, and Simba Jike among others while Warafiki also had their shine on this stage.

Even with their performances, people were still accessing the venue and by 9 pm, the crowd was so big to the extent that some people regarded Ray G’s concert as the most attended ever by a Ugandan artiste.

Ray G stepped on stage at 9:30 pm after ten minutes of his backline taking their places on the stage. His entrance to the stage was not grand but his presence was. His fans shouted at the sight of him that he almost froze but after a few minutes of composure, he started his first set with the ‘Hihi’ song. He also did other songs like Nikwesiga, Izoba, and Chubby before taking his first break.

20 minutes later, he returned for the second set that saw him doing mostly collaborations including ‘My Boo’ with Ziza Bafana, ‘Yoya‘ with Levixone, and ‘Weena‘ alongside Truth 256 among others.

Ray G gave his all during the third and final set where he performed most of his known songs including ‘Rukundo’, ‘Owangye’, ‘Murebe’, ‘Weeshe’, and ‘Omusheshe‘ alongside Spice Diana among others.

Eddy Kenzo despite his sickness came through and thanked the crowd for standing by Ray G during this concert.
