Held at the luxurious Uganda Golf Club Kitante, the event drew golf enthusiasts, dignitaries, and celebrities, all eager to honor the tournament’s outstanding participants.

The evening kicked off with a reception, where attendees, adorned in glamorous attire, mingled and posed for photos. The venue was transformed into a sophisticated gala setting, setting the stage for an enchanting night.

The highlight of the dinner was the presentation of awards. Perez Muhwezi and Rose Azuba emerged victorious winning the overall men’s and women’s trophies respectively. Thanks to the doubling of cash prizes by Absa Bank Uganda to UGX 20 million, the overall winner, Ronald Rugumayo, walked away with UGX 10 million and the rest of the UGX10 million was split among eleven professionals.

The awards dinner also featured an exciting entertainment band lineup. The night also included a captivating dance performance by Patrick Salvado, with his stand-up comedy skills.

Speaking at the prize giving and 19th hole experience made possible by Absa, the bank’s Managing Director said the bank was proud to be associated with the annual golf event and support the continuity of the great tradition.

“For Absa, the Captain’s Bell Tournament is not just about competition but also community. It’s about fostering an environment where this talent can flourish and we are delighted to continue our partnership. This event aligns perfectly with our purpose of ‘empowering Africa’s tomorrow together one story at a time’, supporting excellence, and fostering a spirit of community. The increased prize money reflects our dedication to enhancing the experience for all participants,” he said.

During his remarks, the new Captain Paul Charles Rukundo said his leadership would endeavour to foster the growth of both the sport and players.

As the night drew to a close, attendees left with smiles, memories, and a shared excitement for next year’s tournament. The 2024 Captain’s Bell Uganda Golf Tournament Awards Dinner was indeed a testament to the vibrant and thriving golf community in Uganda, promising even greater things for the future.
