High-end bars in Kampala are selling fake alcohol – Maxxie Kizito

Maxim Steurbaut Kizito

Talent Manager and club promoter Maxim Steurbaut Kizito also known as Maxxie revealed that there is a growing vice of selling fake alcohol and liquor in high-end Kampala bars.

While appearing on a podcast known as the Ugandan Boy Talk Show hosted by Bonny Kibuuka, Maxxie expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as a pandemic in which fake alcohol is sold to people to maximize profits by bar owners and managers.

“I do not know if they are doing it for themselves but I bet they must be bar owners that sell fake bottles of alcohol because they know it is cheaper and they want to make more money,” he mentioned.

Further revealing: “But lately I have been going to good places, I am not going to mention them because it will destroy their reputation. I’ve talked to the owners and bar managers and I have exposed them saying this is fake liquor. That bottle of tequila is fake, that bottle of whiskey is fake. It is methanol.

Maxxie explained that some people may don’t get it because they are usually having a good time but he can immediately taste the difference because he drinks every day and knows what liquor tastes like.

He cautioned: “There is a pandemic in Kampala where bars are serving fake liquor and they need to stop. It will spoil their reputation. They think because we are drunk, they can give us a fake bottle of tequila, we won’t notice. But the reputation of your bar will die.”

The gentleman known for influencing alcoholic drinks highly advised bars in Kampala to stop serving customers fake bottles of liquor reasoning that it is dangerous.

“People could have serious health issues because of these fake bottles. I don’t even know where they are getting them from but they are putting methanol in whiskey bottles to sell in high-end bars.”

Maxxie said that he has been able to expose the bars where the fake alcohol is normally sold and their managers have apologized, giving him a reason that maybe it is the supplier or the staff that are trying to bring in fake bottles.
