Eddy Kenzo, Nameless to headline June Blankets and Wine edition

Blankets & Wine, has officially announced the performers of the Kampala, Uganda 2024 season edition slated to take place on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Lugogo Grounds.

Known for its unmatched roster of talent and being a premier platform for showcasing the best African music, this year’s event will feature musical giants from across the continent, including South Africa’s Samthing Soweto and Kenya’s Nameless.

Samthing Soweto gained widespread recognition for his vocals on Sun-El Musician’s song “Akanamali” and his Spotify chart-topping single “Akulaleki.”

Following his departure from the group The Soil, Samthing Soweto released his debut album, This N That Without Tempo (2010), which blends a cappella and soul. His second album, Isphithiphithi (2019), marked a shift towards Afro-pop and R&B, and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa.

The Ugandan actors will include Eddy Kenzo as a supporting act as well as Rachael Magoola, a founding member of the legendary Afrigo Band. This will be her debut performance at Blankets and Wine, making it one of the festival’s most anticipated acts.

A Pass and well as emerging talents, including Ebrahim Soul’o, Julius Ssese, and Sandrah K Busoga Princess, promising a diverse and vibrant musical experience.

Renowned for its meticulously curated live stage, the festival pledges to maintain its stellar reputation while elevating the ambience even further with the addition of a dynamic DJ-Producer stage dubbed Onja Onja Stage, which sets the scene for an all-day long well-curated food, crafts and markers market. This bold move reflects Blankets & Wine’s commitment to diversity and ensuring a vibrant fusion of live performances and electronic beats that will resonate with music lovers of all tastes.

Another enhancement to the festival experience is the return of the family zone with kids’ activities and minders, creating space for everyone in the family to attend and have a great time.
