Dressed in replica jerseys of Spanish football club FC Barcelona, youngsters belonging to Uganda’s dance group Masaka Kids Africana performed before spectators at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at halftime on Monday evening.
The group’s performance was spiced up with music and dance where a member of the group sang one of their recorded songs as he was accompanied by the rest of his colleagues who showcased different dance strokes on the pitch as the fans of FC Barcelona and those of the away team watched on.
It was a night to remember after the home team Barcelona won the match with four goals, defeating the visiting team Valencia CF who only managed to score twice.
The pictures and clips showing the performance of the dance group have excited several netizens back in Uganda and have commended them for raising Uganda’s flag higher.
“These are our kids from Uganda, thank you so much FC Barcelona for giving them the platform to show case their talent,” commented a one Yusuf Kaggwa on a post that was put up by the club on Facebook.
“We also appreciate what they are doing, thanks for uplifting our Uganda flag Masaka Kids,and am gonna thank my team Barcelona for having a trust in these young kids,” wrote another excited fan identified as Yusuf Bin Muzafaru.
The kids touched down in Spain last week on an invitation from the FC Barcelona and the Barca Foundation an organisation that supports the most vulnerable child and youth through educational sport and projects.
Masaka Kids Africana had an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art sports facility of their host and were also treated to a dinner.They visited one the club’s training session where they had a chance to rub shoulders with the head coach Xavi Hernandez and some players of the famous LaLiga club.

Founded in March 2013 by a gentleman known as Hassan Ssuuna, Masaka Kids Africana is a group comprised of multi talented children from Nyendo,Masaka in Central Uganda who come from humble family backgrounds. Some of the children in the group are orphans and underprivileged and are currently living under one roof.
The group seeks to support their education and well-being through utilising their talents hence the motto “Dance, Rise and Shine.” They are famously known for their dance and choreography.The content they create is compiled and uploaded onto their YouTube that has 3.8 million subscribers and a billion views.
