Soho Terrace is not among the biggest hangouts in Mbarara City, but it was the venue selected to host the Neon Rave party last Friday.
This decision might have been regrettable for the organisers of the event because the venue was filled to capacity as early as 10pm yet the western city is known for partying until late.
The organisers had set up just outside the bar but the venue got smaller every hour that passed by and could barely hold the numbers as party animals in the town flooded the place to witness the explosion of energy that usually comes with the rave.
With DJs being the heart and soul of the neon rave, the line up did not have any performer and mostly comprised Kampala and Mbarara deejays, including DJ Tonny, DJ Roja, DJ Banx, DJ Red and Jeff DJ, among others, did not disappoint in unleashing electrifying tunes that did not leave the crowd the same.
Their seamless transitions and spontaneous understanding of the crowd’s vibe ensured that the dancefloor remained busy throughout the night.
However, it was DJ Trizzy who ended up being the headlining DJ, despite earlier advertisement that it was DJ Roja. Trizzy, who works at Galaxy FM, was on top of his game. For more than an hour, his mixes worked the crowd. Every song that he mixed brought a new feeling to the audience and he was never at any one time predictable as he kept on surprising his audience.
He had a carefully curated playlist that included chart-toppers and classic anthems that resonated with the people of Mbarara. From songs such as Tindatine to others golden hits from Mbarara. That was not it, Trizzy further teased the audience with some of the best classics from other regions as well.
DJ Roja, who was supposed to be the headlining act, did well but not as great as Trizzy. The start of his set at midnight had mostly songs he did alongside Slick Stuart such as Sunday featuring Toniks, Very Well featuring King Saha and Kigwa Leero with Chameleone. This was a good start but there after, he disappointed most people.
“I have heard this set before. I can bet I know the next song he will be playing.” a reveller was overheard saying.
However, the DJ occasionally had people cheering him on.
Dance Mamweta showed off her skills on the dancefloor, while Aine Derrick, MC Maritz, and Trevor Ariho were the perfect hosts of the event, keeping the crowd entertained and engaged throughout the night.
From heart-pounding dance-offs to virtual reality games, the entertainment was endless, ensuring that revellers were fully immersed in the Tusker Lite Neon Rave experience.
