Singer Jose Chameleon’s ex-wife, Daniella Atim, has sparked a social media debate on domestic violence after she shared on X her personal experience about her ‘broken’ marriage to the Kipepewo singer yet again.

The two have five children, namely, Abba (18), Alfa (15), Alba, Amma (11), and Xara (6). The revelation Daniella made on X (formerly Twitter) seemed to confirm speculations about her sourced relationship with legendary singer, real name Joseph Mayanja.

“I moved to the U.S. exactly 5 years ago and sought asylum from many things, including domestic violence that I endured for 16 years. Even though the age I am turning this year sounds too serious, I am choosing to live my early life while healing my nervous system.

The single mom is also turning 40 later this year. For some reason, she has for a long time tagged along with Chameleone in keeping their marriage look alive. Sources reveal that Daniella ditched her wedding ring, whilst Chameleone still wears it.

Chameleone and Daniella exchanged marriage vows in 2008. However, seven years later, Daniella reportedly moved out of the singer’s house and was gone for four months, according to Chameleone’s own account. In 2017, she filed for divorce accusing Jose Chameleon of physical assault.

The end of Daniella’s marriage to Chameleone came as a shock to many fans. To their fans, there was no clear reason for their separation.

Last year, Daniella said that her major motivation for relocating to the US from Uganda was to break free from the cycle of abuse she was subjected to at home by Chameleone.

She also accused the singer of drinking uncontrollably.

Sources said she pleaded with Chameleone to change, especially for the sake of the children, but it fell on deaf ears.

“I will let you be, Daniella. I can’t prove myself anymore,” he posted on his social media platforms in 2021.

In November 2023, she wrote a love letter to herself.

“Dear Daniella, when love visits you again I hope it doesn’t expect you to suffer, that it doesn’t try to deceive you into thinking you have to go through trials and tribulations to be found worthy. I hope it doesn’t come in the form of a litmus paper, putting you through ridiculous tests. I hope you give it a warm welcome, letting go of all the pain and the hurt from the past, in order to make room for it.”
