Creatives protest Sarah Opendi’s alcohol Bill

Last year, Tororo Woman MP Sarah Opendi proposed the 2023 Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill in Uganda but besides affecting brewery companies, this Bill will also affect the creative industry. It is for this reason that creatives headed to Parliament and presented their dissatisfaction about this bill to the parliamentary committee.

Among the creatives under the National Culture Forum who were represented include Phina Masanyalaze, Ragga Dee, comedians Hannington Bugingo and Taata Sam, among others.

According to Fun Factory’s Hannington Bugingo, the meeting was fruitful. “We went to Parliament, introduced ourselves, met the health committee at parliament and presented our issues with this Bill. We explained how it is going to affect our jobs. It was a fruitful one,” said Buju.
