Mbarara dancer hospitalised after fire stunt goes wrong

Mbarara- based music dancer, Mark Tukamushaba, known by his stage name as Mark T Dances is nursing injuries after he accidentally got burnt when a stunt he attempted to perform on stage went wrong.

“We were performing at Day Star Cathedral Church when I caught fire, It happened because the way we had planned to make the concept is not how we did it. One of the crew members mistakenly lit fire on a different part,” Mark T told reporters.

The Day Star Cathedral bishop Nathan Ibrahim condemned the act of dancers using unappropriated actions to mesmerize fans, stating that it puts the actor’s life at risk.

He advised dancing groups to always display performances they can handle.

“We were seated when we saw fire. At first we thought it was fake fire, only to realize it was real fire. We saw him run off stage and that’s how they ended their act. They said it was a mistake done by one of their fellow members. Mark is a church member and has been singing in our church for quite some time,” Bishop Ibrahim said.

He added: “I have spent 40 years in service and this was the first incident to happen in our church. I had never seen someone sing with fire, they had smeared themselves with certain jelly to surprise the congregation, and this has taught us that as church leaders, we should always be cautius.”

Mark is currently admitted at Embassy Medical Clinic in Nyamityobora, Mbarara City where he is receiving treatment.
