The first and last edition of the Janzi awards happened in 2021, with a lot of criticism behind them. But after three years, the proprietor of the Janzi instrument, James Junior Ssewakiryanga, also known as Ssewa Ssewa who also has exclusive rights for this invention, wants to revive the awards this year.
“These awards are meant for acknowledging creatives in the country. Our plan and goal is to have them crossing to East Africa, Africa and then globally wants the awards to cross to East Africa and then to the world,” said Ssewa Ssewa.
He also added that because he is the proprietor of the instrument that was later turned into an award, he knows exactly what it can do not just for the arts industry but for the country as a whole.
“The instrument will contribute to tourism, create jobs for Ugandans, motivate and empower the youth and also promote Ugandan culture,” he added.
Asked when the awards will be held, Sewa Sewa said he has not yet found a timeline but assured us that the second edition is definitely coming this year.
