Big occasions deserve befitting pomp. This was the case for I&M Bank recently as they treated guests to an intimate dinner at Kampala Serena Hotel. The invite-only occasion was to celebrate the bank’s recent partnership with Mastercard, a worldwide payment-processing corporation.
It was a case of glamour and networking as business minds gathered, welcomed welcomed by a huge blue carpet at the entrance.
Inside, guests interacted as they sipped on an array of drinks, enjoyed a sumptuous dinner while the legendary Afrigo Band took to the podium. It was a clear signal that the evening was not just about talking business and speeches, but also fun.
The soothing classics from Afrigo filled the air and in no time, guests were seen shifting from just nodding their heads to taking on the dancefloor to shake a little.
Being one of the oldest bands in Uganda, or even in the region, Afrigo was definitely the perfect entertainment plug for the evening.
Moses Matovu’s saxophone gave off a powerful, yet mellow sound that introduced the gathering to melody after melody, while Herman Ssewanyana drummed like his life depended on it. Tugende mu Afrigo, Nfunda Nomubi, Maria, Amazzi Genyama, Nnatongo, Tojjanga, Jim Wange, and Oswadde Nnyo, were some of the tracks the band entertained guests with throughout the evening.
The event was also a perfect opportunity to introduce the new I&M Bank CEO, Robin Bairstow to the public. In his speech, Bairstow took guests through the new range of I&M Bank Mastercards that were being launched.
“I am glad to announce that I&M Bank is the first bank in Uganda to roll out the World Elite & World Debit cards. All these cards will offer enhanced features and functionality that will greatly transform our customers’ banking experience, in terms of how they manage their finances and make payments,” he said.
The event was attended by a host of celebrated finance experts and ornate guests such as Business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia, Suleiman Kiggundu, the non-executive chairman I&M Bank Uganda, Victor Ndlovu Director- the Country Business Development Lead at Mastercard, as well as Francis Kamulegeya and Francis Magambe Byaruhanga, both non-executive directors at I&M Bank.
