My life is back, says Big Eye after Bobi Wine hug

Musician Ibrahim Mayanja alias Big Eye has finally spoken about his recent warm reception at the National Unity Platform Party by opposition strongman Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.

The musician was on November 3 treated to a heartwarming reception into NUP by the Party President during the official launch of the new party headquarters in Makerere, Kavule on Friday last week.

“At the commissioning ceremony of the party headquarters, I was also formerly welcomed by the President of the people’s side. My decision was not an event but rather a well -through process that took in consideration many factors, including the possibility of facing the wrath of those in power,” said Big Eye during a press conference held in Kampala.

Adding; “After all that I have gone through over the past years, I could have opted to take the play safe decision or pretend to be neutral but no, I recalled the words of a great man Desmond Tutu: If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.”

The CEO of Big Music Entertainment also lauded Bobi Wine for having welcomed him where he reportedly belongs.

“My life is back, I am thrilled with joy and happiness. I am having better night sleeps. The love and affection I received since that day I was reintroduced to the world is overwhelming,” Big Eye happily noted.

Big Eye was once known for being a strong supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and he came out several times to justify his support for the ruling government, mostly during President Museveni’s campaign trail. This however, effected his music career a great deal and on a number of occasions he was interrupted while performing at music events as rowdy revelers pelted bottles at him demanding him to leave the stage for allegedly siding with the government in power.
