Vanessa Nakate is off the shelf. In a poetic post, the climate change activist wrote: “He saw me holding a climate strike sign on the street one day He saw me street preaching one day, He saw me nervous before giving a speech on a world stage one day, He saw me giving that speech on a world stage one day, My lord saw me, found me, and chose me. And I said YES.”
Nakate is a celebrated climate change activist who made news worldwide after being cropped out of a major news photo in which she appeared alongside Greta Thunberg and other White climate change activists in 2020, causing her to comment that the news agency ‘erased an entire continent’. She started her journey as a climate activist in 2018 after the climate crisis became one of the greatest threats affecting the lives of many Ugandans.
