Musician Ibrahim Mayanja alias Big Eye will always live to remember November 3, 2023, the day he was finally welcomed warmly in the National Unity Platform (NUP) party.
The musician’s career had in the last two years been affected by the wrath of NUP members who continuously mocked and pelted bottles at him on numerous occasions as he performed. Big Eye once said the supporters of leading opposition party accused him for supporting the ruling government (NRM).
The Big Music Entertainment founder could not hide his excitement as he was welcomed by the NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
This was during the official launch of the new NUP offices in Makerere-Kavule, a Kampala Suburb on Friday afternoon. Big Eye in the company of Party deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro was clad in a black trouser, white shirt, a black necktie and beret made his way to the pulpit where Mr Kyagulanyi who was giving a speech hugged him and later dressed him with a red beret with a People Power Movement logo to replace the plain black beret he was wearing.
Taking his excitement to Facebook, Big Eye wrote: “Dear fellow Ugandans, I don’t know what to say right now but when i settle down I will officially say something to you lovely Ugandans. For now all i can say is…Thank you Mr President Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu ( Bobi Wine ). Thank you National Unity Platform.”
Big Eye now joins a big number of artistes who have publicly expressed their support for musician turned Politician Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform.
