DigiArt Fest, Uganda’s annual comic convention that brings together illustrators, animators, and video gamers returns with 7th edition. The event will take place at Design Hub located in Kampala on December 1 and 2.
Digi Art Fest was initiated in the Ugandan Art scenes in 2017 when the first edition happened in Kampala. Since the first edition, the event has always attracted thousands of visitors from diverse backgrounds, including business owners, students, artists, gamers, and pop culture enthusiasts.
Last year’s Digi Art Fest was held at Acacia Mall’s Banquet hall under the theme “Digital Art, The Next Frontier”. The event featured a game jam for video game developers, exhibitions from comic book artists and animators, and climaxed with a video game tournament where winners went home with prizes.
According to Laurean Ntaate, the brains behind Digi Art Fest, the 7th edition of Digi Art will run under the theme, ‘Story’ and some of the major objectives of holding the annual event are to uplift the art industry, education, and skills sharing, networking, collaborating and among all entertainment.
He goes on to say that the discussion panels will have industry leaders like Loukman Ali, a renowned movie director, David Masanso, a pioneer in Ugandan space, and Disney Director Raymond Malinga among others.
The major highlights of this year’s event will be Panel discussion, E-sport Tournament, Workshops, Cosplay, and Merchandise selling.
