Nono, a fast-rising music sensation

Juliana Kanyomozi and Rema Namakula are some of Uganda’s best female artistes who many, including Noelline Ingambire, a burgeoning Rwandan born Uganda-based vocalist, look up to.

Noellline, known by her stage name Nono is a fast-rising sensation, poised to captivate Uganda with her Afropop and contemporary style of music.

Nono started singing at eight years after joining Watoto children’s choir but says she was a shy girl before.

“I was a shy child before and I never came out to do anything in the choir until our team leader decided to spot me. He told me to come in front and sing which I declined before he forced me. I started tembling because I was afraid so he gave me a song to lead which I did despite the fear and that is how it all started,” she said.

It was not until recently that her singing dream came to life thanks to Spin Ice entertainment that took her on and asked why she took on the decision to be signed, Nono said, they both shared the same ideology.

“I decided to do this because when we sat down and talked I found that they loved the same thing that I love and that is music so we decided to do it together.”

With the guidance of the label, Nono has so far released two songs in her catalogue, ‘Singa’, produced by Bomba and written by Kim C and ‘Tambula Nange’, written by Zulanda and produced by Eli Arkhis which have all been doing so well on rotation.

Briefly, she says she is a God fearing, principled and a great listener of music, some of the key aspects she shares with her inspirations.
