The South African legendary stars, Mafikizolo joined revellers in Kampala to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage at the Pilsner Lager sponsored One Nation festival last weekend.

The duo put on a colorful and engaging performance, revisiting their popular hits like Khona, Ndihamba Nawe, Emlanjeni and more that saw the crowd sing and cheer from beginning to end.

The traditional based-festival welcomed revellers with a traditional music and dance ensemble that gave revelers a cultural appreciation right as they walked into the festival grounds.

The diverse cultural backgrounds within Uganda were represented by the Baraka dance troop that kick started the festival with an appreciation of the Northern Uganda cultural dance and music.

Exploring the western culture, the Ihunde dance troop put on an energetic runyege performance to represent the Banyoro, not forgetting the the Kinyarwanada and Maganda mash up that got everyone dancing along.

In the spirit of celebration, attendees were entertained to music performances from Mudra, who ushered the night in, followed by Kataleya and Kandle, Allan Toniks and more.

Joannita Kawalya and Moses of the Afrigo band equally put on a great live music performance at the event as they performed to their old-time hits, taking the crowd down memory lane.

“We strongly believe in the need for cultural celebration and preservation and One

Nation has proved the role this plays in fostering love and togetherness as evidenced by the experience today,” said Edgar Kihumuro, Pilsner Lager Brand Manager, Uganda Breweries Limited.

Embracing and celebrating the diverse cultural heritage in Uganda is key in defining us as a nation especially as we get into the Independence celebrations, he added.

The inaugural edition of the One Nation Festival, besides the modest turn up was altogether a cocktail of great music, dance, culture and ice cold Pilsner Lager served in beautifully decorated gourds.
