Keko opens up about her struggles with mental health

Ugandan rapper Jocelyne Tracey, alias Keko is back in the country after spending six years in Canada.

The I Am Ugandan singer told Kiss FM she had been struggling with a condition known as Schizophrenia, a chronic brain disorder but she is in a better health condition and on medication.

When schizophrenia is active, symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, trouble with thinking and lack of motivation, according to health experts.

“I had actually struggled with my mental health. I was actually diagnosed with Schizophrenia but thankfully with the right mental support, I was sent to a psychologist and psychiatrist so I could get to talk to them if I had to talk to somebody,” she said.

Keko also added that where she is mentally now is actually better because she got medication and is in a good head state right now.

The former Platinum entertainment artiste also advised the youths to get someone to talk to in case they face any mental challenges because it helps.

“You need to talk to somebody every now and then to help you out on some of the hiccups. The more you talk about stuff, the easier it becomes,” she said.
