Azawi has surely had a time of her life the past couple of days and she is not about to stop. She is having booking after booking. Last Saturday evening, she was the headlining act at the screening of the Rugby World Cup at Legends Rugby Grounds.
With the final whistle, both fans needed songbird Azawi’s treatment. The South Africa fans were on Cloud 9 and needed something to dance to while the New Zealand fans soaked their tears in a massive Azawi performance for solace.
Her performance was different this time round. Azawi allowed fans to dance with her. Not just dancing but touching her waist.
Azawi’s performance was short and engaging. She did Slow Dancing, Bamututte, My Year, Lo Fit and Majje among others.
The evening was a big day for rugby fans around the world and every rugby fan in the world found themselves glued on a screen somewhere for those who could not make the trip to the Stade de France in Paris to cheer on finalists.
In Uganda, Guinness had a special arrangement at Legends Rugby Club for rugby lovers. It was the screening of the game and being a venue for rugby, Legends was filled to capacity.
By 8pm, fans were thronging Legends Rugby Club clad in their replicas, not afraid to reveal their allegiances for what was to turn out a night of tension. Excitement and anticipation were high as kick off time came closer.
The vibrant atmosphere filled with cheers and friendly banter had it all. Massive screens, comfortable seats, food and drinks to keep fans fuelled throughout the 80 minutes of rugby.
